Sammie’s Creamery is an ice cream shop in Los Angeles that specializes in handcrafted ice cream made with local, seasonal, and quality ingredients. Sammie’s ice cream is a special treat that evokes lighthearted joy and brings people together. The trademark design focused on form development to achieve a dynamic balance between meaning, expression, beauty, and distinctiveness. This development provided opportunities to explore the principles of gestalt, figure-ground, juxtaposition, metaphor, and character depiction. 

The logo was based on the client’s puppy, Sammie. The main goal was to capture Sammie’s unique features while applying the personality of the company to the logo. The promise of a satisfying experience that Sammie’s Creamery offers was conveyed by the tongue-licking action and the happy facial expression. Moreover, the ice cream drips were incorporated not only as playful visual elements but also as a call to action to bring customers to the store.
